How I Work
I focus mainly on enhancing an individual's self-worth/esteem. Being valued as a person, by being listened to and understood without being judged, can help an individual to accept who they truly are, and allow them to reconnect with their own inner strength and true self.
My practice is an integrative model of therapy. My counselling experience focuses on Person-Centred Counselling (also known as a Client-Centred Counselling) combined with Psychodynamic which looks at the past and how the past has informed the present. The counsellor or psychotherapist in this approach aims to provide an environment in which you, my client, does not feel under threat or judged. This enables you to experience and accept more of who you are as a person and reconnect with your own values, way of being and sense of self-worth. This reconnection with your inner resources enables you to find your own way of moving forward.
My Approaches to Therapy
I practice an integrative model of therapy. I am a Humanistic Psychotherapist and Counsellor, my main approach is Person Centred, where the client is the expert in the room. My role is to listen and explore in a non-judgemental way in order to help you bring your sub-conscious thoughts and feelings into your awareness. Once aware, you will be able to reconnect with your inner strength and find your own way forward.
I work within the guidelines of the BACP ethical framework. Part of this framework requires us to form a working agreement that includes time for regular reviews of our work and time for reflection on ethics in Counselling.
